An IMGlobalWealth.com News Report
HSBC Private Bank has moved to strengthen its leadership bench across Asia, unveiling a series of senior appointments that underscore the region’s continued strategic importance to global wealth management. The hires span India, China and Southeast Asia, reflecting rising client sophistication, cross-border complexity and intensifying competition for ultra-high-net-worth relationships.
Within its global India franchise, the bank has appointed Phaneendar Bhavaraju and Rangan Krishnan as senior relationship managers. Both report to Manoj Ramarao, senior desk head for global India, Singapore and Hong Kong. The dual hire brings together deep investment expertise and long-standing private banking leadership, reinforcing HSBC’s intent to capture complex, internationally mobile Indian wealth.

“Beyond North Asia, HSBC has reinforced its advisory capabilities in Southeast Asia by naming Dawn Fung as head of wealth planning for the region”
Bhavaraju brings nearly three decades of experience across foreign exchange, derivatives, structured finance and private banking. In recent years, he has served as chief investment officer at external asset managers in Dubai’s DIFC, including Jupiter Wealth Advisors and Arrow Capital, while also leading multi-family office investment activity for O3 Capital India. His earlier career included private banking roles at RBS and Credit Suisse.
Krishnan, meanwhile, adds more than 30 years of wealth management experience. Most recently, he spent nine years at Bank of Singapore as a team head overseeing ultra-high-net-worth clients, family offices and institutional mandates. His background also includes senior roles at ANZ, Credit Suisse, ABN AMRO and DSP BlackRock Mutual Fund.

China coverage has also been expanded with the appointment of Alex Liu as market head of offshore China, extending his remit from Hong Kong to Singapore. Based in Hong Kong, Liu reports to Kanas Chan, head of North Asia and Hong Kong, and is tasked with deepening cross-border client engagement at a time of heightened regulatory and geopolitical sensitivity.
Beyond North Asia, HSBC has reinforced its advisory capabilities in Southeast Asia by naming Dawn Fung as head of wealth planning for the region. A 25-year banking and trust veteran, Fung has spent more than two decades with HSBC and remains part of the Southeast Asia private banking leadership team. She reports to Ann Ling, regional head of wealth planning and advisory for Asia Pacific, and to Tommy Leung on an entity basis.
In Thailand, William Fok has been appointed country head of private bank. Based in Bangkok, he reports to Benjamin Wang, desk head for Thailand and Vietnam. Fok returns to HSBC after senior advisory roles at LGT, Julius Baer and Morgan Stanley, bringing over 20 years of experience in structured products and investment advisory.
Taken together, the appointments signal a deliberate effort by HSBC Private Bank to deepen local expertise while strengthening regional connectivity, positioning the franchise to compete for Asia’s fast-evolving pools of private capital.
