Anti-migration rhetoric can often derail economic progress. For sectors like Investment Migration, Real Estate, and Wealth Management, stability and business-friendly policies are key to thriving.

That’s why IMGW News is zeroing in on the current political shifts making headlines. Instability, fear, and a return to anti-migration rhetoric not only deter investment but also stir political unrest. This creates a challenging environment for economic prosperity. Stay tuned as we explore how these developments impact our world.

We believe that our young resident artist, Robert Zammit, has captured the new realities shaping today’s political landscape in his latest design.

The new normal? The far-right movement that’s afflicting the West…

The rise of far-right movements and their influence on policy can have profound implications for Investment Migration, Real Estate, and Wealth Management—sectors that depend on a predictable and welcoming environment for growth and investment. Investment Migration, in particular, risks losing the hard-earned progress it has made in gaining acceptance within the EU, especially given the sector’s recent subjection to strict anti-money laundering rules.

Welcome to 2024

The political landscape in both the US and the EU is undergoing significant transformations. Figures such as Geert Wilders (the Dutch far-right leader and head of the Party for Freedom), Giorgia Meloni (the right-wing Italian Prime Minister, ranked by Forbes as the fourth most powerful woman in the world), Viktor Orbán (the Hungarian far-right Prime Minister), Marine Le Pen (French parliament member and leader of the National Rally), and Donald Trump (the firebrand conservative known for his anti-migration rhetoric) all share one crucial trait: they are central to a new far-right movement gaining traction in Western parliaments.

Trump’s potential re-election could further empower European leaders who view him as a source of inspiration. These politicians are united by a strong opposition to migration. In the EU, the far-right movement is perceived as a challenge to the increasing centralization of power in Brussels, advocating instead for a return to a union focused more on commerce and trade than on political integration. Some political observers even suggest that echoes of 1930s Europe are beginning to resurface. One can only hope that such fears prove unfounded.

These are indeed intriguing times. The year 2024 may bring changes on many levels, with far-reaching effects across the globe.
