This month, IMGW News brings you a Q&A with Yasmin AlRawi, a UAE engineer, AI specialist, and accomplished author. If you haven’t heard about Yasmin yet, mark our words: it is only a matter of time.
Who is Yasmin AlRawi?
Yasmin Alrawi is a dynamic professional with a diverse background in technology, education, and investment migration. Born in Kuwait to a Palestinian mother and an Iraqi father, she has called the UAE home for the past 25 years.

As the Strategic Global Regional Manager at Hengsheng Group, Yasmin specialises in Grenada National Project Promotion and Channels Development Worldwide. Hengsheng Group is one of Grenada’s leading Citizenship by Investment programme providers and the developer of the Grenada National Resort.
Headquartered in Singapore, Hengsheng Group has branches in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Grenada, Dubai, Russia, India, Kenya, South Africa, and so on. Yasmin is Certified Trainer . A mother, author, and AI enthusiast, Yasmin’s mission is to inspire and contribute to creating a better world.

Education
Yasmin earned a Diploma in Quality and Excellence from the German Jordanian University, where she studied from December 2020 to September 2022. Prior to this, she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the College of Engineering at Ajman University of Science and Technology, graduating in 2010.
Here is the IMGW News Q&A Session with Yasmin:
Q1: Can you tell us a little about your background and the challenges you faced growing up?
Yasmin: I was born in Kuwait to a Palestinian mother and an Iraqi father. After the Iraq-Kuwait war, we had to leave Kuwait, facing the first of many challenges. We relocated to Jordan for two years before finally settling in the UAE. This journey of living in multiple countries and being exposed to different cultures shaped my personality and instilled in me a strong sense of responsibility. My parents’ struggles fueled my desire to make them proud and to pursue a path that would ensure our safety and fulfilment.

Q2: How did your educational and professional journey begin?
Yasmin: I graduated with distinction from Ajman University of Science and Technology as a biomedical engineer. Determined to be independent, I started my career in the healthcare industry. However, I had to leave my job after getting married. Following my divorce in 2018, I reignited my ambition and began exploring the world of artificial intelligence (AI).

Q3: How did AI and technology influence your career?
Yasmin: My interaction with Sophia, the AI-powered robot, was a turning point that inspired me to delve deeper into AI. This experience led to my participation in workshops, hackathons, and presentations on emerging technologies. I discovered a talent for communicating complex ideas in an engaging and simple manner, which resonated with diverse audiences, from government entities to children.

Q4: What are some of your notable achievements in the field of technology and education?
Yasmin: I have achieved many milestones in my career, but the following are particularly meaningful to me: I delivered a well-received presentation on the Fourth Industrial Revolution at a public library in Dubai. Additionally, I designed an engaging educational activity for the Al Ain Book Festival, featuring technology stations and interactive workshops. My efforts in AI education have been recognised, and I continue to deliver inspiring workshops and presentations.
Q5: Can you share more about your current role and future aspirations?
Yasmin: Currently, I serve as the Strategic Global Regional Manager at Hengsheng Group, focusing on promoting the Grenada National Project and developing channels worldwide. As a certified trainer, I develop customised courses that empower my audience to understand themselves and emerging technologies. My next book will explore discovering and harnessing human potential. My goal is to continue influencing and inspiring others to embrace technology responsibly and creatively.
Q6: What advice do you have for those who fear AI and its impact on jobs and education?
Yasmin: AI should not be feared but embraced as a tool to enhance our capabilities. It’s crucial to guide and educate children on using AI responsibly and ethically. AI has the potential to transform education by providing personalised learning experiences and supporting educators. By integrating AI thoughtfully, we can improve efficiencies and better understand students’ needs.

Q7: How do you see the future of AI in education and society?
Yasmin: AI will complement traditional education and help deliver more impactful learning experiences. It can monitor students’ emotional responses, provide real-time assessments, and assist teachers in understanding students’ challenges. The UAE’s broader integration of AI across various sectors reflects a national commitment to leveraging technology for societal benefit. If used responsibly, AI has the potential to safeguard society and enhance our quality of life.
Q8: What inspires you and drives your passion for technology and education?
Yasmin: My inspiration comes from leaders like His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid and my experiences with technology. Witnessing the transformative power of AI and its potential to improve lives motivates me. My passion lies in spreading knowledge, inspiring others, and creating a better future through technology and education.
Q9: What’s your message to those aspiring to make a difference in the tech world?
Yasmin: Believe in yourself and your potential. Embrace technology, keep learning, and use your knowledge to make a positive impact. Don’t let fear hold you back; instead, let curiosity and passion drive you forward. The future is full of opportunities, and with the right mindset, you can achieve great things.

Q10: How do you manage to wear multiple hats every day?
Yasmin: Every day, I believe in what’s possible. I am a mother, an author, a trainer, and a Regional Manager. My mission is to inspire others and contribute to creating a better world. I speak both the language of technology and the language of humanity, balancing my roles with a vibrant spirit and unwavering determination. If you meet me, consider yourself lucky—I am extraordinarily human-powered, not a cyborg… yet!
