Dean Cain, the actor once known for donning Superman’s cape in the 1990s television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has pledged to join the ranks of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), aligning himself with Donald Trump’s intensifying crackdown on immigration.
In a recent appearance on Fox News, Cain revealed that his decision followed a social media post he shared promoting an ICE recruitment video. The post, amplified by the network, reportedly caught the agency’s attention. Cain says he has since been in touch with ICE officials and plans to be sworn in as an agent “as soon as possible.”

A vocal conservative in an industry often skewing liberal, Cain framed his decision as a patriotic duty. “This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not,” he said. “I truly believe this is the right thing.” He described the US immigration system as “broken”, adding that while legislative reform is needed, Trump was elected to act – and is delivering.
Cain, who has previously served as a reserve police officer and deputy sheriff, will now lend his support to one of America’s most polarising agencies. ICE has come under scrutiny for its methods, particularly under the Trump administration’s second term, which has ramped up deportation efforts.
A recent CNN analysis of ICE data reveals a notable disparity in enforcement tactics across states. In Republican-led states, most ICE arrests occur in prisons and jails. In Democratic-leaning areas, the agency frequently detains immigrants from public spaces such as worksites and streets – often without criminal records – prompting protests in cities like Los Angeles.
Overall, the agency is conducting more arrests in red states than in blue ones, but the optics and backlash vary widely. Cain’s announcement arrives as the Trump administration escalates efforts to portray immigration enforcement as a central plank of national security and law and order.
