An IMGlobalWealth.com News Feature
In our recent feature “Richer Than Musk: History’s True Titans of Wealth,” IMGlobalWealth.com explored the colossal fortunes of emperors, conquerors and industrial magnates whose power once shaped entire civilisations. Their wealth, often measured in land, resources and tribute rather than audited assets, served as a reminder that extreme riches are not unique to the 21st century. Yet today’s financial landscape is witnessing a renewed – and remarkably concentrated – surge at the very top. The emergence of a new class of “super-billionaires,” whose fortunes exceed $50 billion, marks a modern parallel to history’s great accumulators of power. This article profiles 10 of the most influential among them.

Global inequality is consolidating at an unprecedented pace. While the world now counts more than 3,500 billionaires, the most dramatic concentration of wealth is occurring within a far smaller tier: the ultra-elite “super-billionaires,” individuals worth more than $50 billion.
According to analysis from wealth-intelligence firm Altrata, first reported by Fortune magazine, the world today hosts 29 such super-rich individuals. Collectively, this rarefied class controls an estimated $4.13 trillion, roughly equivalent to the market value of Nvidia, the world’s most valuable company.
“… no segment has generated wealth more dynamically over the past decade than this tiny cohort at the pinnacle of global capitalism“
Although the global billionaire population expanded by 5.6% in 2024, more than half of those individuals remain at the entry level of billionaire status. The sharpest gains have flowed overwhelmingly upwards, with the top tier benefiting disproportionately from the decade-long boom in technology, artificial intelligence, and in some cases, luxury goods and entertainment.
The United States dominates this landscape. Roughly 65% of all super-billionaires live in America, where the AI revolution has sent valuations soaring across several sectors. Altrata’s data shows that tech-sector billionaires have seen their wealth increase nearly 200% over the past decade – growth unmatched by any other industry.
Below is a ranking of 10 of the most influential super-billionaires, ordered from lowest to highest in estimated wealth.
