An IMGlobalWealth.com News Report
This is a developing story, and the IMGlobalWealth.com newsroom will provide updates as further confirmed details become available.
Argentina has formally cancelled the international tender launched to appoint a master agent for its planned citizenship-by-investment (CBI) programme, bringing the procurement process to a close.
The tender, issued in late 2025, sought to engage a private operator to design, structure, and manage the programme over a multi-year period. The process attracted multiple international bidders and progressed through a full evaluation phase under Argentina’s public procurement framework.

“The government has also not indicated whether it intends to relaunch the tender, revise the structure of the programme, or pursue an alternative implementation model”
Official documentation published on the government’s COMPR.AR platform confirms that the evaluation committee completed its assessment and issued a pre-adjudication report, recommending a preferred bidder or consortium for the contract. The process had therefore reached an advanced stage, with the award decision pending. (Read IMGlobalWealth.com’s related reporting: Argentina’s Citizenship-by-Investment Plans Enter Decisive Phase)
However, in April 2026, the Ministry of Economy resolved to cancel the tender in its entirety. The decision voids the procedure, provides for the return of bid guarantees, and confirms that no contract will be awarded. As is standard under public procurement rules, no compensation is due to participating bidders.
The cancellation occurred after the submission of formal challenges by bidders during the process. Under Argentine procurement law, such challenges trigger a review of the evaluation and can affect the progression of an award. The authorities ultimately discontinued the procedure without proceeding to contract award.

No further detail has been provided regarding the substance of the challenges or the evaluation outcome. The government has also not indicated whether it intends to relaunch the tender, revise the structure of the programme, or pursue an alternative implementation model.
The development leaves Argentina’s proposed CBI framework without an appointed operator and pauses what would mark the country’s entry into the investment migration space.
For now, the programme remains without a defined pathway to implementation.
