At just 23 years old, Sepehr Motevassel – known as Sep among his friends – is already making significant strides in the industry. Sep was born in the historic city of Shiraz, Iran, but he now spends most of his time in the UAE, where he pursued his studies, works, and runs his business.
Sep is the son of Dr. Sirous Motevassel, a respected legal scholar and entrepreneur who serves as the CEO of Prime Developments and Carib International.
Dr. Motevassel’s companies specialise in ambitious real estate developments and providing citizenship services, particularly focusing on the Saint Kitts and Nevis government-approved programme.
Following in his father’s exemplary footsteps, Sep is carving out his path with a unique vision and innovative approach. Despite his young age, he is making a name for himself and contributing significantly to the industry.
IMGW News editor Ray de Bono interviews Sepehr Motevassel: A Journey of Innovation, Family, and Cultural Integration
(1) Ray de Bono: Good morning, Sepehr. Thank you for taking the time to chat with us today. Let’s start with your background. Could you tell us a bit about yourself?
Sepehr Motevassel: Hello, Ray. It’s a pleasure to be here. I’m Sepehr Motevassel, but my friends call me ‘Sep’, for short. I’m 23 years old, and the son of Sirous Motevassel, the Founder and CEO of Prime Developments and Carib International. I finished my studies at the Canadian University of Dubai and have been involved in the construction and contracting business here in Dubai since I was 18. I run a company called CasaBella Interiors and Contracting, which has renovated villas in Palm Jumeirah and other areas of Dubai. Besides that, I’m also involved in property development—buying, renovating, and selling properties.
(2) Ray de Bono: That’s quite impressive for someone so young. How has your journey been working closely with your father and on your projects?
Sepehr Motevassel: Working with my father has been an invaluable experience. He has built a strong foundation for our family business, and I see it as my responsibility to build on that. This project is more than just work; it’s an investment in our family’s future and the future generations. It’s the beginning of a new era, and I’m proud to be part of it.
(3) Ray de Bono: You mentioned you studied at the Canadian University of Dubai. How has your education influenced your career?
Sepehr Motevassel: : I studied Project Management, but my approach to university was more about making connections than obtaining a degree. I believe connections are far more valuable. The network I’ve built here in Dubai has been incredible and has opened many doors for me.
(4) Ray de Bono: Your perspective on education is quite interesting. I’ve heard you’re also integrating AI into your contracting business. Can you tell us more about that?
Sepehr Motevassel: Absolutely. Integrating AI is part of my forward-thinking approach. AI helps us streamline processes, from getting designs in minutes to ensuring government approvals with a higher accuracy rate. It minimizes costs and boosts efficiency, putting us ahead of the competition. I believe in leveraging technology to stay at the forefront of the industry.
(5) Ray de Bono: How do you balance your time between CasaBella and your involvement in Prime Development?
Sepehr Motevassel: CasaBella is more of a side job for me. It doesn’t require my constant presence because I have a dedicated team managing the operations. My main focus and motivation come from Prime Development, aiming to reach and surpass the level my father has achieved.
(6) Ray de Bono: Speaking of development, Dubai’s transformation is nothing short of remarkable. What are your thoughts on the city’s growth and its future?
Sepehr Motevassel: Dubai’s growth is indeed extraordinary, especially considering its beginnings as a desert. The city’s expansion is driven by visionary leadership and a welcoming environment for all nationalities. The absence of income tax, for instance, makes it an attractive place for investors. The future here is very bright, with a rapidly growing population and continuous infrastructural advancements.
(7) Ray de Bono: Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years, I aim to have a stronger grasp of the investment migration system and play a crucial role in our firm. For CasaBella, I envision developing multiple properties in Dubai and becoming a well-known developer. Additionally, I’m passionate about our projects in Saint Kitts and Nevis, particularly the cultural and arts centre we’re developing there. This project reflects my commitment to community and cultural preservation.
(8) Ray de Bono: The cultural arts centre sounds fascinating. Can you tell us more about it?
Sepehr Motevassel: The Prime Creative Arts Centre in Saint Kitts and Nevis is very close to my heart. It’s designed to showcase the rich culture and talent of the locals, providing a platform for artists, musicians, and craftsmen to display their work. It’s not just about business; it’s about giving back to the community and creating opportunities. This commitment to cultural development highlights our dedication to preserving and promoting the heritage of Saint Kitts and Nevis.
(9) Ray de Bono: That’s admirable. Now, let’s talk a bit about Dubai again. Why should someone consider moving here with their family?
Sepehr Motevassel: The biggest draw is safety. Dubai is incredibly safe, which is a significant factor for families. Additionally, the city offers a high quality of life, excellent food, and diverse cultural experiences. The tax-free income is also a huge incentive for many.
(10) Ray de Bono: What are your hobbies outside of work?
Sepehr Motevassel: I love music. I’ve been playing the piano since I was nine and later taught myself to play the guitar. I also produce electronic music. Music is a great way to relax and express creativity. It is a form of therapy for me, a way to manage stress and find balance.
(11) Ray de Bono: You seem to have a deep understanding of stress management and a unique philosophical perspective on life. Can you share more about that?
Sepehr Motevassel: Sure. I’ve discovered through meditation and self-therapy that stress is a significant factor in health and well-being. Stress can lead to various illnesses and ageing. Historically, stress was a defence mechanism that motivated our ancestors to take action. In today’s world, managing stress through physical activity, creative outlets like music, and mindful practices is crucial for maintaining health.
(12) Ray de Bono: If I had to ask you for a quote that influences you, from someone you admire, a philosopher, or a historical figure, which quote would you suggest?
Sepehr Motevassel: I find inspiration in Tacitus’s words: “Men are more ready to repay an injury than a benefit because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure.” Publius Cornelius Tacitus, known simply as Tacitus, was a Roman historian and politician. Modern scholars widely regard Tacitus as one of the greatest Roman historians. This quote resonates with me, especially in my work, reminding me of the complexities of human behaviour and the importance of maintaining balance and perspective.
